Written by By: Marie kate Ashley A. Luartes, News Editor

Speaking before the senior girl scouts and the scout candidates during the High School Girl Scouts Investiture Rites, Madam Marilyn M. Lavinia, Guest Speaker, said it’s been quite a while when she had a word in front of a crowd. She’s a brilliant writer and a noted newscaster having been a TFC Correspondent for the Balitang Middle East and Kwentong Disyerto for quite a number of  years.

She was one of the organizers who spearheaded the Essaylimpics which was a brainchild of her husband, Mr. Christopher Marlowe Lavinia, also a BME TFC Correspondent. She delivered a heart warming message that surely inspired the young girl scouts. She opened her speech by calling two Senior Scouts to recite the Scout Oath and Promise. Through this, she made the young scouts remember what their real goal and mission are in being girl scouts. She was introduced by Senior Scout Marie Kate Ashley A. Luartes.

Earlier, the ceremony commenced with Hanan S. Panolong as Master of Ceremony, announcing the entrance of Riyadh Chapter’s  GSP Council, School Officials, Committee Members, Scout Masters and Girl Scouts. It was followed by the singing of the Phil. National Anthem and IPSR Hymn led by Senior Scouts Floriza Gaile M.Ildefonso and Dindi D.Medallon and the invocation by Senior Scout Hanniah A. Macasipot.

Ria Rose M. Manuel warmly welcomed the guests with her opening remarks. Then, Senior Scouts Jazirah T. Dibaratun and Donna May C. Santiago led the Investiture Rites wherein the Junior Scouts were formally accepted into the new movement of scouting. Selected scouts recited the scout laws, scout oath, and the pledge of allegiance to the flag. After which, the parents and sponsors donned the neckerchiefs and pinned the scout badges to the newly-invested scouts..  At this juncture, the scouts sang their GSP songs led by Senior Scouts Allianah D. Benito, Dyan A. Gamoso and Nevheen Pereira. A box was also passed to the scouts and audience for their donations for the future activities of the scouts. The ceremony ended with the closing remarks and closing prayer  by Senior Scouts Shameem S. Jailani and Banissa M. Dalisay.
